London Olympic Coin designed by Bangladeshi

On 27 July 2012 Olympic 2012 will be inaugurated in London. To celebrate this historic event the Royal Mint has launched an open competition to all UK art and design students to design official London 2012 commemorative coins. A Bangladesh-born architecture student Saiman Miah’s design won as the official commemorative coin of London Olympics 2012.

Saiman Miah is a Masters student of Birmingham School of Architecture. He has designed as the pictograms of Olympic athletes placed around the edge are like a clock face, a reference to another London icon, Big Ben. And that design has been unveiled on the £5 coin of UK.

Saiman Miah said "As an architecture student, I wanted to include a detailed impression of London's iconic skyline in my design,”  "And Winning the Olympic coin competition is a dream come true," said Saiman.
On the other hand the official London 2012 Paralympic £5 coin will be designed as the design of Pippa Sanderson who is a student at Hereford College of Arts.
